"Taking a step back, the overall sentence of 10 years' imprisonment with a further period of one year's licence having regard to modern standards and attitudes is just proportionate and appropriate when regard is had to your overall criminality and the
principle of totality. This consideration of totality relates not just to you but to the wider public interest. What is important is the overall sentence in a case like this, rather than individual sentences and that is what I have sought to achieve."
