18/06/1924: HEAVY MOTOR CAR (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1924 |
| | To the Council of each Administrative County; to the Council of each County Borough; to the Urban District Council of each Urban County District; and to all whom it may concern:

| | WHEREAS in pursuance of Section 12 of the Motor Car Act, 1903, the Local Government Board for Ireland did, by the Heavy Motor Car (Ireland) Orders, 1905 and 1911, and the Heavy Motor Car (Ireland) (Amendment) Order, 1919, make certain regulations with respect to heavy motor cars:

| | AND WHEREAS the powers of the said Local Government Board under the said Section 12 of the Motor Car Act, 1903, were under the Ministry of Transport Act, 1919, transferred to the Minister of Transport, and the said Minister did by the Road Vehicles (Registration and Licensing) Regulations, 1921, and the Heavy Motor Car (Amendment) Order, 1921, amend the said regulations:

| | AND WHEREAS the said powers are now exercisable by Me, the Minister for Local Government and Public Health:

| | AND WHEREAS it is expedient that a further regulation, as hereinafter set forth, should be made in addition to the regulations aforesaid:

| | NOW, THEREFORE, I, the Minister for Local Government and Public Health, in pursuance of Section 12 of the Motor Car Act, 1903, and in exercise of all powers in this behalf enabling me, do by this, my Order, order and direct as follows:—

| | ARTICLE I.—The Heavy Motor Car (Ireland) Order, 1905, shall be read and have effect as if after Article Xa of that Order there were added the following Article, that is to say:—
|
| | "Article Xb.—Every heavy motor car used on any highway shall be fitted with a reflecting mirror so constructed and fixed and of such a character as will enable the person driving such heavy motor car to perceive the approach of any vehicle proceeding in the same direction and overtaking such heavy motor car."

| | ARTICLE II.—This Order shall come into operation on, from and after the fourteenth day of July, 1924.
|
| | ARTICLE III.—This Order may be cited as the Heavy Motor Car (Amendment) Order, 1924.
|
| | Given under My Seal of Office, this Eighteenth day of June, in the Year of Our Lord, One Thousand Nine Hundred and Twenty-four.
