PIGS AND BACON ACT, 1935 THE BACON (PRODUCTION FROM CARCASES OF PIGS SLAUGHTERED IN LICENSED SLAUGHTERING PREMISES) ORDER, 1936.

PIGS AND BACON ACT, 1935 THE BACON (PRODUCTION FROM CARCASES OF PIGS SLAUGHTERED IN LICENSED SLAUGHTERING PREMISES) ORDER, 1936.

WHEREAS it is enacted by sub-section (1) of Section 51 of the Pigs and Bacon Act, 1935 (No. 24 of 1935), that the Minister for Agriculture may at any time make an order (in Part II of the said Act referred to as a bacon (production from carcases of pigs slaughtered in licensed slaughtering premises) order) prohibiting the production at licensed premises of bacon unless such bacon is produced from the carcases of pigs slaughtered in licensed curing and slaughtering premises:

AND WHEREAS it is enacted by sub-section (2) of the said Section 51 that a bacon (production from carcases of pigs slaughtered in licensed slaughtering premises) order shall specify the date, which shall not be earlier than six months after the date of the making of such order, on which such order is to come into force:

NOW, THEREFORE, I, SÉAMAS O RIAIN, Minister for Agriculture, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by Section 51 of the Pigs and Bacon Act, 1935 (No. 24 of 1935), and of every and any other power me in this behalf enabling, do hereby order as follows, that is to say:

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Bacon (Production from Carcases of Pigs Slaughtered in Licensed Slaughtering Premises) Order, 1936.

(2) This Order shall come into operation on the 1st day of January, 1937.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1923 (No. 46 of 1923), applies to the interpretation of this Order in like manner as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of the Oireachtas.

3. The production at licensed premises of bacon is hereby prohibited unless such bacon is produced from the carcases of pigs slaughtered in licensed curing and slaughtering premises.
