No. 220/1937:

IRISH NATIONALITY AND CITIZENSHIP REGULATIONS, 1937.

IRISH NATIONALITY AND CITIZENSHIP REGULATIONS, 1937.

WHEREAS it is enacted by subsection (1) of Section 28 of the Irish Nationality and Citizenship Act, 1935 (No. 13 of 1935), that the Minister for Justice may by order make regulations in relation to any matter or thing referred to in the said Act as prescribed or to be prescribed, but that no such regulation shall be made in relation to the amount or collection of fees without the consent of the Minister for Finance:

AND WHEREAS the matters and things to which these regulations relate are matters and things which are referred to in the said Act as prescribed or to be prescribed:

NOW, the Minister for Justice, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by the Irish Nationality and Citizenship Act, 1935 (No. 13 of 1935), and of every and any other power him in this behalf enabling, and, in so far as these regulations relate to the fixing of any fees, with the consent of the Minister for Finance, testified by his official seal affixed hereto, hereby makes the following regulations:—

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Irish Nationality and Citizenship Regulations, 1937.

2. The Irish Nationality and Citizenship Regulations, 1935 (Statutory Rules and Orders, No. 555 of 1935), and these Regulations may be cited together as the Irish Nationality and Citizenship Regulations, 1935 and 1937.

3. The Interpretation Act, 1923 (No. 46 of 1923), applies to the interpretation of these Regulations in like manner as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of the Oireachtas.

4. In addition to the cases provided for by sub-paragraph (d) of paragraph (2) of Article 19 of the Irish Nationality and Citizenship Regulations, 1935 (Statutory Rules and Orders, No. 555 of 1935), a fee of one pound shall be paid on or before the issue of a certificate of naturalisation on the application of a widow—

(a) whose husband was immediately prior to his death a citizen of Saorstát Éireann, and

(b) who has not, subsequent to her husband's death, become a naturalised citizen of any other country.
