INTOXICATING LIQUOR (MAXIMUM PRICES) ORDER, 1947.

I, SEÁN F. LEMASS, Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by Article 31 of the Emergency Powers Order, 1939 (S. R. & O. No. 224 of 1939), as amended by the Emergency Powers (No. 173) Order, 1942 (S. R. & O. No. 166 of 1942) (which Orders are continued in force by the Supplies and Services (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1946 (No. 22 of 1946)), and of every and any other power me in this behalf enabling, hereby order as follows :—

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Intoxicating Liquor (Maximum Prices) Order, 1947.

(2) This Order shall come into operation on the 17th day of October, 1947.

2. References in this Order to selling shall be construed as including references to agreeing or offering to sell or to inviting an offer to buy.

3. No person shall sell by retail any of the undermentioned commodities at a price exceeding by more than sixpence per glass the price charged by him for such commodity during the month of September, 1947 :—

Whiskey, Gin and Brandy.

4. No person shall sell by retail any of the undermentioned commodities at a price exceeding by more than fivepence per glass the price charged by him for such commodity during the month of September, 1947 :—

Port and Sherry.

5. No person shall sell by retail any of the undermentioned commodities either in bottle or on draught at a price exceeding by more than threepence per pint the price charged by him for such commodity during the month of September, 1947 :—

Beer, Stout and Porter.

6. For the purposes of Article 3 and Article 4 of this Order a glass shall be regarded as equivalent to one sixty-fourth part of a gallon.

7. The Emergency Powers (Intoxicating Liquor) (Maximum Prices) Order, 1946 (S. R. & O. No. 139 of 1946) is hereby revoked.
