The Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by Article 31 of the Emergency Powers Order, 1939 (S. R. & O. No. 224 of 1939), as amended by the Emergency Powers (No. 173) Order, 1942 (S. R. & O. No. 166 of 1942) (which Orders are continued in force by the Supplies and Services (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1946 (No. 22 of 1946) as amended by the Supplies and Services (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1946 (Continuance) Act, 1949 (No. 31 of 1949)) and of every and any other power him in this behalf enabling, hereby orders as follows :--

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Margarine (Maximum Prices) Order, 1950.

(2) This Order shall come into operation on the 30th day of January, 1950.

2. References in this Order to selling shall be construed as including references to agreeing or offering to sell or to inviting an offer to buy.

3. For the purposes of this Order--

(1) the word " margarine " shall be deemed to include any mixture of margarine and butter ;

(2) any fraction of a halfpenny shall be regarded as one half-penny.

4. No person shall sell margarine at a price exceeding a price calculated at whichever of the following rates is appropriate, that is to say--

When sold to a Wholesale Merchant

When sold to a Retail Merchant

5. Where margarine is sold to a wholesale merchant or to a retail merchant and the purchaser requests the vendor to deliver it to specified premises, the vendor shall deliver such margarine free of charge either, as the vendor elects, to such premises or to the railway station nearest to such premises.

6. The Margarine (Maximum Prices) (No. 2) Order, 1949 ( S.I. No. 301 of 1949 ) is hereby revoked.
