TELEPHONE (AMENDMENT) (No. 1) REGULATIONS, 1951.

I, ERSKINE H. CHILDERS, Minister for Posts and Telegraphs, in exercise of the powers vested in me by the Telegraph Acts, 1863 to 1928, and, in particular by section 2 of the Telegraph Act, 1885, and of every and any other power me in this behalf enabling and with the consent of the Minister for Finance testified by his signature hereto, hereby make the following regulations :--

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Telephone (Amendment) (No. 1) Regulations, 1951.

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of October, 1951.

3. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to these Regulations.

4.--(1) In these Regulations the expression " the Principal Regulations " means the Telephone Regulations, 1942 ( S. R. & O. No. 62 of 1942 ).

(2) These Regulations shall be construed as one with the Principal Regulations.

5. The sum of threepence shall be substituted for the sum of twopence in Regulation 10 of the Principal Regulations.

6. The sums of one shilling and threepence, and eightpence, shall be substituted for the sums of one shilling and one penny, and seven pence, respectively, in subparagraph (b) of paragraph (1) of Regulation 11 of the Principal Regulations.

7. The word " twenty-five " shall be substituted for the word " five " where it occurs in paragraphs (1) and (2) of Regulation 13 of the Principal Regulations.

8. The Schedule hereto shall be substituted for the Second Schedule to the Principal Regulations.

SCHEDULE.

CHARGES FOR CALLS BY A CALLER FROM A CALL OFFICE.

PART I.

If the call is to an office connected with the exchange with which the call office is connected--threepence.

PART II.

If the call is to an office connected with an exchange other than the exchange with which the call office is connected and the call is made at or after 9.0 a.m., and before 7.0 p.m.--the sum shown in the following table which is appropriate to the call :--

Distance between the two exchanges connected

Calls between any two exchanges within the State

Calls between an exchange within the State and an exchange in Northern Ireland

Calls between an exchange within the State and an exchange in Gt. Britain, the Isle of Man, or the Channel Islands
