LOCAL ELECTIONS (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1955. |
||
The Minister for Local Government in exercise of the powers conferred on him by article 5 of the Schedule to the Local Government (Application of Enactments) Order, 1898, as amended by section 39 of the Local Government Act, 1941 , and by section 10 of the Local Government (Ireland) Act, 1919, hereby orders as follows :-- |

1. This Order may be cited as the Local Elections (Amendment) Order, 1955. |

2. In this Order, " the Principal Order " means the Local Elections Order, 1942 (S.R. and O. 1942, No. 255). |
||
3. Form LE. 7 of the First Schedule to the Principal Order shall be amended by the insertion of the words " Marcáil ord do rogha sna spáis seo síos " before the words " Mark order of preference in spaces below " and by the insertion of the words "Ainmneacha na nIarrthóirí" before the words " Names of Candidates." |
||
4. In Form LE. 6 of the First Schedule to the Principal Order, the examples of ballot papers validly marked may, at the discretion of the returning officer, contain the words " Marcáil ord do rogha sna spáis seo síos " before the words " Mark order of preference in spaces below " and the word " Ainmneacha na nIarrthóirí " before the words " Names of Candidates." |

5. Sub-paragraph (a) of paragraph (5) of rule 6 of the Third Schedule to the Principal Order shall be amended by the deletion therefrom of the words " and the number of votes credited at such count to the lowest candidate is greater than one-third of the quota." |
||
6. Paragraph (2) of rule 7 of the Third Schedule to the Principal Order shall be amended by the deletion therefrom of the words " and the number of votes credited to the lowest candidate is greater than one-third of the quota." |
||
7. Paragraph (3) of rule 9 of the Third Schedule to the Principal Order shall be amended by the deletion therefrom of the words " so long as the number of votes credited to each of the continuing candidates referred to in rule 9 (2) who are not deemed to be elected is greater than one-third of the quota." |
