EMERGENCY IMPOSITION OF DUTIES (No. 379) (SPECIAL IMPORT LEVY) (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1956.

EMERGENCY IMPOSITION OF DUTIES (No. 379) (SPECIAL IMPORT LEVY) (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1956.

The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 1 of the Emergency Imposition of Duties Act, 1932 (No. 16 of 1932), as adapted in consequence of the enactment of the Constitution, hereby order as follows :

1. This Order may be cited as the Emergency Imposition of Duties (No. 379) (Special Import Levy) (Amendment) Order, 1956.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Order.

3. The Emergency Imposition of Duties (No. 370) (Special Import Levy) Order, 1956 ( S.I. No. 45 of 1956 ), is hereby amended, as respects articles imported on or after the 31st day of May, 1956, as follows :

(a) at reference number 4 in the Schedule, for :

" Photographic apparatus and accessories thereof." there shall be substituted :

" Photographic apparatus of the following descriptions :

(1) cinematograph cameras designed exclusively for the use of film not exceeding 16 millimetres in width and not capable of being loaded with more than 50 feet of such film,

(2) cameras (other than cinematograph cameras) designed for the use of--

(i) roll film not exceeding 3 inches in width, or

(ii) other film not exceeding 35 millimetres in width

excluding microfilm recording apparatus,

(3) enlargers designed to accommodate a negative not exceeding 7½ square inches in superficial area."

(b) at reference number 46 in the Schedule, for :

" Photographic films, plates, paper, cloth and cards, which have been sensitized, excluding cinematograph film."

there shall be substituted :

" Sensitized photographic film, not exceeding 3 inches in width, sensitized paper and sensitized paper board, excluding cinematograph film, cut sheet film, sensitized paper and paperboard imported in rolls, sensitized paper and paperboard imported in cut sheets measuring not less than 55 square inches in superficial area and sensitized paper and sensitized cellulose acetate sheet for colour printing."

(c) at reference number 56 in the Schedule, for :

" Imitation parchment."

there shall be substituted :

" Imitation parchment, excluding imitation parchment which--

(a) is uncoloured or white in colour, and

(b) weighs not less than 18 lbs. and not more than 30 lbs. per ream of 480 sheets measuring 30 inches by 20 inches."

(d) at reference number 64 in the Schedule, " intended " shall be substituted for " suitable " where " suitable " occurs before " for the vehicles."

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The Order amends Emergency Imposition of Duties (No. 370) (Special Import Levy) Order, 1956 by modifying four of the descriptions of articles to which the Special Import Levy applies.
