I, ERSKINE H. CHILDERS, Minister for Transport and Power, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 13 of the Customs-free Airport Act, 1947 (No. 5 of 1947) (as amended by section 11 of the Customs-free Airport (Amendment) Act, 1958 (No. 29 of 1958)) and the Transport, Fuel and Power (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order, 1959 ( S.I. No. 125 of 1959 ), with the consent of the Minister for Finance, hereby make the following regulations: |

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Customs-free Airport (Extension of Laws) Regulations, 1960. |
||
2. The Exchange Control (Amendment) Regulations, 1960 ( S.I. No. 62 of 1960 ), shall extend to the Customs-free Airport. |
||

EXPLANATORY NOTE |
||
These Regulations extend to the Customs-free Airport the Exchange Control (Amendment) Regulations, 1960 ( S.I. No. 62 of 1960 ). |
||
The Exchange Control (Amendment) Regulations, 1960 amend the Exchange Control Regulations, 1959 so as to allow, without the necessity of applying for any prior permission, (a) the purchase in the U.S. Dollar Area and Canada of any goods required for use in the State instead of a limited range as hitherto and (b) the bringing with them by travellers to destinations outside Great Britain, Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man of up to £50 in Sterling Area currency notes instead of £20 as hitherto and up to £250 in foreign currency instead of £100 as hitherto. |
