TELEPHONE (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1965. |

I, MICHAEL HILLIARD, Minister for Posts and Telegraphs, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 2 of the Telegraph Act, 1885, and with the consent of the Minister for Finance, hereby make the following regulations:-- |
||
1.--(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Telephone (Amendment) Regulations, 1965. |
||
(2) The Telephone Regulations, 1959 and 1964, and these Regulations may be cited together as the Telephone Regulations, 1959 to 1965. |
||
2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 22nd day of March, 1965. |
||
3. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to these Regulations. |
||
4. Regulation 5 of the Telephone Regulations, 1959, shall be amended as follows:-- |
||
(a) in subparagraph (b) of paragraph (2) "threepence halfpenny" is hereby substituted for "twopence half-penny"; |
||
(b) in subparagraph (a) of paragraph (3) "four pence" is hereby substituted for "three pence"; |
||
(c) in subparagraph (b) of paragraph (3) "four pence" is hereby substituted for "three pence". |

EXPLANATORY NOTE. |
||
The purpose of these Regulations is to amend the Telephone Regulations, 1959, to provide for the following increases in local call charges: |
||
(1) Increase in the charge to the renter of a coin-box exchange line from 2½d. to 3½d. |
||
(2) Increase in the amount charged to the caller from a coin-box exchange line or public telephone from 3d. to 4d. |
