IMPOSITION OF DUTIES (MISCELLANEOUS SUSPENSIONS) ORDER, 1966.

IMPOSITION OF DUTIES (MISCELLANEOUS SUSPENSIONS) ORDER, 1966.

I, JOHN LYNCH, Minister for Finance, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the Imposition of Duties Act, 1957 (No. 7 of 1957), and with the consent of the Minister for Industry and Commerce, hereby order as follows :

1. This Order may be cited as the Imposition of Duties (Miscellaneous Suspensions) Order, 1966.

2. This Order shall come into operation on the 1st day of July, 1966.

3. In this Order--

"paragraph 5" means paragraph 5 of the Imposition of Duties (No. 159) (Customs Duties and Form of Customs Tariff) Order, 1966 ( S.I. No. 132 of 1966 ) ;

"the Schedule" means the Schedule to the said Imposition of Duties (No. 159) (Customs Duties and Form of Customs Tariff) Order, 1966.

4. (1) The duties of customs imposed by paragraph 5 and mentioned at tariff heading numbers 44.22 (A), 44.28 (C), 69.10 (A), 73.23 (A) (1), 73.23 (A) (2), 73.38 (E) (3) (c) (ii), 73.40 (N) (3) (c) (i), 82.04 (C), 83.03 (A), 83.04 (B), 84.24 (A) (5) and 84.24 (B) (2) in the Schedule shall not be charged or levied.

(2) The minimum specific rates of duty of customs imposed by paragraph 5 and mentioned at tariff heading numbers 84.24 (A) (1) and 84.24 (A) (2) in the Schedule shall not be charged or levied.

5. The duty of customs imposed by paragraph 5 and mentioned at tariff heading number 35.03 (A) in the Schedule shall not be charged or levied on isinglass in solid form or edible gelatine in solid form.

6. The duties of customs imposed by paragraph 5 and mentioned at tariff heading numbers 39.02 (D), 39.07 (P), 48.12, 59.10 (A), 59.10 (B) and 68.12 (C) (1) in the Schedule shall not be charged or levied on pieces of floor covering of which the greatest dimension does not exceed thirty-five inches.

7. The duty of customs imposed by paragraph 5 and mentioned at tariff heading number 59.10 (A) in the Schedule shall not be charged or levied on inlaid linoleum which is not less than two and one-half millimetres in thickness.

8. The duties of customs imposed by paragraph 5 and mentioned at tariff heading numbers 50.04 (B) (2) (a), 50.05 (B) (2) (a), 50.06 (B) (2) (a), 52.01 (B) (1) and 58.07 (A) (2) (b) (i) in the Schedule and (in so far as it is chargeable on yarns not containing wool or hair) the duty of customs imposed by the said paragraph 5 and mentioned at tariff heading number 56.05 in the said Schedule shall not be charged or levied on yarns commonly known as boucle, knop, gimp, chenille, bead, loop, curl, spiral, slub and snarl yarns.

9. The duty of customs on certain wrought plates, sheets or strip of aluminium imposed by paragraph 5 and mentioned at tariff heading number 76.03 (B) (1) in the Schedule shall not be charged or levied on goods in which the thickness of the aluminium exceeds one-fiftieth of an inch, other than pieces of such goods of circular or approximately circular shape the greatest cross-sectional dimension of which does not exceed twenty-five inches.

10. The duty of customs on certain plates, sheets or strip of aluminium imposed by paragraph 5 and mentioned at tariff heading number 76.08 (C) (2) (a) in the Schedule shall not be charged or levied on goods in which the thickness of the aluminium exceeds one-fiftieth of an inch.

11. The duty of customs imposed by paragraph 5 and mentioned at tariff heading number 76.03 (B) (1) in the Schedule shall not be charged or levied on strip which is--

(a) imported in rolls,

(b) formed to a concave shape,

(c) of a width not exceeding two and one-half inches,

(d) coloured or lacquered on both sides, and

(e) not less than seventeen two-thousandths of an inch nor more than thirteen one-thousandths of an inch in thickness inclusive of colouring or lacquering.

12. The duties of customs imposed by paragraph 5 and mentioned at tariff heading numbers 84.25 (A) and 84.25 (B) in the Schedule shall not be charged or levied on rick-lifters, hay sweeps, silage rakes, buck rakes, and the like, or on parts of rick-lifters, hay sweeps, silage rakes, buck rakes, and the like.

13. The Imposition of Duties (Miscellaneous Suspensions) Order, 1962 ( S.I. No. 228 of 1962 ), the Imposition of Duties (Beehive Sections of Wood) Order, 1963 ( S.I. No. 176 of 1963 ), the Imposition of Duties (Agricultural Machinery) Order, 1966 ( S.I. No. 41 of 1966 ), and the Imposition of Duties (Ceramic Sanitary Ware) Order, 1966 ( S.I. No. 42 of 1966 ), are hereby revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order replaces, with effect from 1st July, 1966, all Orders in force up to that date which provided for indefinite suspension of customs duties.
