|
The Minister for Local Government in exercise of the powers vested in him by section 35 of the Local Government Act, 1941 (No. 23 of 1941), hereby orders as follows :--
|
|
|
1. This Order may be cited as the Dundalk Urban District Local Electoral Areas Order, 1967.
|
|
|
2. In this Order " the Urban District " means the Urban District of Dundalk.
|
|
|
3. The Urban District shall be divided into the local electoral areas set out in the first column of the Schedule to this Order.
|
|
|
4. (1) Each such local electoral area shall consist of the area described in the second column of the Schedule to this Order opposite the name of such local electora area.
|
|
|
(2) In the Schedule to this Order--
|
|
|
(a) a reference to a line along any road, street, avenue, lane, pedestrian under-crossing, river, railway line or fence shall be construed as a reference to a line drawn along the centre line of the road, street, avenue, lane, pedestrian under-crossing, river, railway line or fence,
|
|
|
(b) a reference to the point at which any road, street, avenue, lane, pedestrian under-crossing, river, railway line or fence intersects or joins any road, street, avenue, lane, pedestrian under-crossing, river, railway line or fence shall be construed as a reference to the point at which a line drawn along the centre of the one would be intersected or joined by a line drawn along the centre of the other ;

|
(c) a reference to the point at which any road, street, avenue, lane, river, railway line or fence intersects or joins a boundary shall be construed as a reference to the point at which a line drawn along the centre of such road, street, avenue, lane, river, railway line or fence intersects or joins such boundary ;
|
|
|
(d) the expression " the urban boundary " means the boundary of the urban district of Dundalk at the date of this Order.
|
|
|
5. The number of members of the Council of the Urban District to be elected for each such local electoral area shall be the number set out in the third column of the Schedule to this Order opposite the name of such local electoral area.
|

Commencing at the junction of the southern boundary of Marsh North townland with the urban boundary; thence commencing in a north-easterly direction and continuing along the urban boundary to its junction with the fence which forms the southern boundary of hereditaments numbered 4B, 7, and 4A in the townland of Farrendreg on 1/10560 Valuation Map 7 County Louth; thence initially in an easterly direction along the said fence to its junction with the eastern boundary of the said townland; thence in a south-easterly direction along the townland boundary to its intersection by the imaginary westerly projection of the northern boundary fence of hereditament numbered IE in Demesne townland on the last mentioned map; thence in an easterly direction along the said projection and boundary fence to its junction with Ard Easmuinn Road; thence in a southerly direction along the said road to its intersection by the imaginary westerly projection of Ard Easmuinn/Pearse Park
pedestrian under-crossing; thence in an easterly direction along the said projection and under-crossing to its junction with the Dublin-Belfast railway line; thence in a northerly direction along the said railway line to its junction with Castletown Road; thence in a south-easterly direction along the said road to its junction with the road known locally as La Salle Terrace Road; thence in a southerly direction along the said road and along Patrick Street to its junction with Laurels Road; thence commencing in a southerly direction along Laurels Road to its junction with Church Street; thence in a southerly direction along Church Street to its junction with Yorke Street; thence

Commencing at the junction of Yorke Street and Nicholas Street; thence, commencing in a northerly direction along the boundary of Local Electoral Area Number One to its first junction with the urban boundary; thence commencing in an easterly direction along the urban boundary to its intersection by the easterly projection of the Green Avenue; thence in a westerly direction along the said projection and along the Green Avenue and along the Long Avenue to its intersection by the Rampart River; thence in a northerly direction along the said river to its intersection by the southerly projection by Distillery Lane; thence in a northerly direction along the said projection and along Distillery Lane to its intersection by Jocelyn Street; thence in a westerly direction along Jocelyn Street to its junction with Chapel Street; thence in a northerly direction along Chapel Street to its junction with Yorke Street; thence in a westerly direction along Yorke Street to the
starting point.

Commencing at the intersection of the Rampart River with the imaginary south-easterly projection of Gray's Lane; thence commencing in a north-westerly direction along the said projection and Lane to its junction with Park Street; thence in an undefined straight line, in a north-westerly direction to the southern termination of the north-eastern boundary wall of hereditament number 1, Anne Street, as shown on 1/1250 Valuation Map 7-X-A, Co. Louth; thence in a north-westerly direction along the said boundary wall to its junction with the southern boundary of Demesne townland; thence, commencing in a south-westerly direction along the said townland boundary to its junction with the Dublin-Belfast railway line; thence in a northerly direction along the said railway line to its first junction with the boundary of Local electoral area

EXPLANATORY NOTE.
