LOUTH COUNTY COUNCIL (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1974.

LOUTH COUNTY COUNCIL (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1974.

The Minister for Local Government in exercise of the powers vested in him by section 33 (7) of the Local Government Act, 1941 , (No. 23 of 1941), hereby orders as follows:--

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Louth County Council (Amendment) Order, 1974.

(2) This Order and the Louth County Council Order, 1942, may be cited collectively as the Louth County Council Orders, 1942 and 1974.

2. Article 3 of and the Schedule to the Louth County Council Order, 1942, are hereby revoked.

3. (1) The County of Louth shall be divided into the county electoral areas named in the first column of the Schedule to this Order.

(2) Each such county electoral area shall consist of the areas set forth in the second column of the Schedule to this Order opposite the name of such county electoral area.

(3) The number of members of the Council of the County of Louth to be elected for each such county electoral area shall be the number set forth in the third column of the Schedule to this Order opposite the name of such county electoral area.

4. Every reference in the Schedule to this Order to a district electoral division, borough or urban district shall be construed as referring to such district electoral division, borough or urban district as existing at the date of this Order.

County Electoral Area Contents of County Electoral Area Number of Members to be elected for each county electoral area
Ardee The District Electoral Divisions of:-- 5

Ardee Rural, Ardee Urban, Castlebellingham, Clonkeen, Collon, Dromin, Drumcar, Dunleer, Stabannan, Tallanstown.

Carlingford The District Electoral Divisions of:-- 3

Ballymascanlan, Carlingford, Drummullagh, Greenore, Jenkinstown, Rathcor, Ravensdale.

Drogheda The District Electoral Divisions of:-- 8
Clogher, Dysart, Monasterboice, Mullary, St. Peter's, Termonfeckin;
and the Borough of Drogheda.
Dundalk The District Electoral Divisions of:-- 10

Barronstown, Castlering, Castletown, Creggan Upper, Darver, Dromiskin, Dundalk Rural, Faughart, Haggardstown, Killanny, Louth, Mansfieldstown;

and the Urban District of Dundalk.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The effect of this Order is to divide Louth County into four county electoral areas for the purpose of the election of members of Louth County Council and to fix the number of members to be elected for each county electoral area.
