The Minister for the Environment in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 4 (1) and 16 (1) of the Local Government (Water Pollution) Act, 1977 , (Sections 4 and 16) (Fixing of Dates) Order, 1978.

1. This Order may be cited as the Local Government (Water Pollution) Act, 1977 , (Section 4 and 16) (Fixing of Dates) Order, 1978.

2. In this Order "the Act" means the Local Government (Water Pollution) Act, 1977 .

3. The date for the purpose of section 4 (1) of the Act shall be the 1st day of October, 1978.

4. The date for the purpose of section 16 of the Act shall be the 1st day of January, 1979.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order fixes 1st October, 1978 and 1st January, 1979 as the dates for the purposes of sections 4 (1) and 16 respectively of the Local Government (Water Pollution) Act, 1977 which relate to the licensing of certain discharges to waters and to sewers.
