HOUSING REGULATIONS, 1980 (AMENDMENT) (No. 3) REGULATIONS, 1981.

The Minister for the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 5 of the Housing Act, 1966 (No. 21 of 1966) and Section 5 of the Housing (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1979 (No. 27 of 1979), with the consent of the Minister for Finance, hereby makes the following the following Regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Housing Regulations, 1980 (Amendment) (No. 3) Regulations, 1981.

2. In these Regulations:

"the Regulations of 1980" means the Housing Regulations, 1980 ( S.I. No. 296 of 1980 ).

3. Sub-article (5) of article 14 of the Regulations of 1980 is hereby amended by the substitution in paragraphs (b) and (c) of "30th day of June, 1981" for "31st day of March, 1981".

4. Article 23 of the Regulations of 1980 is hereby amended by the insertion after sub-article (4) of the following sub-article:--

"(5) A grant shall not be paid in accordance with this article in respect of a house for which a grant has previously been paid under this article or Section 5 of the Housing (Loans and Grants) Act, 1962 (No. 27 of 1962) or section 23 of the Act of 1966".

5. Sub-article (2) of article 24 of the Regulations of 1980 is hereby revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations amend the Housing Regulations, 1980 in relation to house improvement grants:--

(i) to extend the final date for the completion of work and the receipt of applications by the Minister for payment of grants from 31st March, 1981 to 30th June, 1981.

(ii) to remove the bar on the payment of grants for the accommodation of the handicapped and mentally ill in respect of a house for which an essential repairs grant has been previously paid.
