INLAND POST AMENDMENT (No. 26) WARRANT, 1981.

I, PATRICK COONEY, Minister for Posts and Telegraphs, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 2, 3 and 6 of the Post Office (Amendment) Act, 1969 (No. 18 of 1969) , and with the consent of the Minister for Finance, hereby order as follows:

1. (1) This Warrant may be cited as the Inland Post Amendment (No. 26) Warrant, 1981.

(2) This Warrant shall come into operation on the 1st day of September, 1981.

2. In this Warrant--

“the Principal Warrant” means the Inland Post Warrant, 1939 (S.R. & O., No. 202 of 1939).

“Warrant No. 25” means the Inland Post Amendment (No. 25) Warrant, 1981 ( S.I. No. 116 of 1981 ).

3. Regulation 23 (2) of the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution for “sixty new pence” (inserted by Regulation 3 of the Inland Post Amendment Warrant No. 25) of “seventy two new pence”.

4. The First Schedule to the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein (inserted by Regulation 4 of Warrant No. 25) of the entries in the First Schedule to this Warrant.

5. The Second Schedule to the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein (inserted by Regulation 5 of Warrant No. 25) of the entries in the Second Schedule to this Warrant.

6. The Third Schedule to the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein (inserted by Regulation 6 of Warrant No. 25) of the entries in the Third Schedule to this Warrant.

7. The Fourth Schedule to the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein (inserted by Regulation 7 of Warrant No. 25) of the entries in the Fourth Schedule to this Warrant.

8. The Fifth Schedule to the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein (inserted by Regulation 8 of Warrant No. 25) of the entries in the Fifth Schedule to this Warrant.

9. Regulation 7 of the Inland Post Amendment (No. 4) Warrant, 1953 ( S.I. No. 279 of 1953 ), as amended by Regulation 9 of Warrant No. 25, is hereby amended by the substitution for “forty eight new pence” of “fifty-eight new pence”.

1. Late Fee Postal Packet

A fee (in addition to postage) not exceed- ing 5p as may be prescribed

A packet upon which no part, or a part only, of the fee payable is paid shall be liable to a surcharge of double the deficiency.

2. Certificate of Posting (issued at the request of the sender of an unregistered postal packet other than a parcel)

The service is subject to such rules as may be prescribed.

3. Certificate of Delivery (obtained and forwarded to the sender of a registered postal packet at this request)

The Certificate relates to the delivery of the postal packet at the place to which the said packet is addressed. The service is subject to such rules as may be prescribed.

4. Deposit Account for payment of postage

An annual fee of £5.50 in respect of each such account

Conveyance by special messenger of a postal packet throughout the whole of the service demanded or through part only of its course in the post.

For delivery in Ireland a distance fee at the rate of 22p for the first 1.6 km or part thereof and 11p for every additional 1.6 km or part thereof.

For delivery in Great Britain, Northern Ireland, The Channel Islands, or the Isle of Man, a distance fee of 22p per 1.6 km.

Writing down of Express message received by telephone.

A fee (in addition to the appropriate telephone fee and appropriate distance fee) of 11p.

(This note is not part of this Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation.)

This Warrant applies to the Inland Post service and comes into operation on the 1st September, 1981. It authorised increases in the letter, postcard, printed packet, newspaper, sample packet and parcel post rates of postage and in the fees charged for the express delivery, registration, customs clearance, cash-on-delivery and other miscellaneous services.
