I, BRENDAN DALY, Minister for Fisheries and Forestry, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 2 (2) of the Whale Fisheries Act, 1937 (No. 4 of 1937), and the Fisheries (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1978 ( S.I. No. 195 of 1978 ), hereby order as follows: |

1. This Order may be cited as the Whale Fisheries Act, 1937 (Extension to Mammals of the order Cetacea) Order, 1982. |
||
2. This Order shall come into operation on the 1st day of August, 1982. |
||
3. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Order. |
||
4. The provisions of the Whale Fisheries Act, 1937 (No. 4 of 1937), shall apply to all mammals of the order Cetacea. |
||

EXPLANATORY NOTE. |
||
The effect of these Regulations is to extend the provisions of the Whale Fisheries Act, 1937 to cover all whale species including dolphins and porpoises. |
