INFECTIOUS DISEASES (MAINTENANCE) (NO. 3) REGULATIONS, 1982. |

The Minister for Health, in exercise of the powers vested in him by section 5 and sub-section (5) of section 44 of the Health Act, 1947 (No. 28 of 1947), hereby makes the following Regulations-- |
||
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Infectious Dieseases (Maintenance) (No. 3) Regulations, 1982. |
||
2. Where a person is or becomes entitled to payment under sub-section (3) of section 44 of the Health Act, 1947 in accordance with the Infectious Diseases (Maintenance) Regulations, 1982 ( S.I. No. 76 of 1982 ) to or in respect of himself and any adult dependants in respect of the week commencing on the 5th day of December 1982 any amount so payable by way of an allowance for himself and any adult dependants for that week shall be increased by a sum equal to that amount. |

EXPLANATORY NOTE. |
||
The effect of these Regulations is to amend the existing Regulations governing the payment of maintenance allowances to persons being treated for certain infectious diseases -- the Infectious Diseases (Maintenance) Regulations, 1982 ( S.I. No. 76 of 1982 ) -- and to provide in respect of the week commencing the 5th December, 1982 for an increase in the maximum rates of the element of the allowance appropriate to himself and any adult dependants by a sum equal to that amount. |

The Infectious Diseases for which maintenance allowances are payable are acute anterior poliomyelitis, diphtheria, dysentery, lassa fever, paratyphoid A, paratyphoid B, rabies, salmonella infection, scarlet fever, streptococcal sore throat, tuberculosis, and typhus fever. |
||
There is provision for a double weeks allowance for child dependants in S.I. 284 of 1982. |
