ROAD TRAFFIC (LICENSING OF DRIVERS) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1983. |

The Minister for the Environment in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 5 , 33 and 42 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 (No. 24 of 1961) hereby makes the following Regulations:-- |

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Road Traffic (Licensing of Drivers) (Amendment) Regulations, 1983. |
||
2. These Regulations and the Road Traffic (Licensing of Drivers) Regulations, 1964 to 1982 shall be construed as one and may be cited together as the Road Traffic (Licensing of Drivers) Regulations, 1964 to 1983. |
||
3. These Regulations, with the exception of Article 7, shall come into operation on the 1st day of March, 1983. |
||
4. Article 7 of these Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of April, 1983. |
||
5. Article 5 of the Road Traffic (Licensing of Drivers) (Amendment) Regulations, 1982 ( S.I. No. 27 of 1982 ) is hereby revoked. |
||
6. The fee to be paid to the issuing authority on application for a certificate of competency shall be thirty pounds where the application relates to vehicles of Class H, twenty-three pounds where the application relates to vehicles of Class D or Class E and fifteen pounds in any other case. |
||
7. Article 20 of the Road Traffic (Licensing of Drivers) Regulations, 1964 is hereby amended by the substitution for the words "six pounds" (as substituted by article 4 of the Road Traffic (Licensing of Drivers) (Amendment) Regulations, 1980 ( S.I. No. 225 of 1980 ) of the words "eight pounds". |

EXPLANATORY NOTE. |
||
These Regulations amend the Road Traffic (Licensing of Drivers) Regulations, 1964 to 1982 so as to provide for revised rates of fees for driving tests and provisional licences. |
