S.I. No. 7/1984:

HARBOUR AUTHORITIES (ALLOWANCES TO MEMBERS) RULES, 1984.

HARBOUR AUTHORITIES (ALLOWANCES TO MEMBERS) RULES, 1984.

I, JIM MITCHELL, Minister for Communications, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 9 (7) of the Harbours Act, 1947 (No. 34 of 1947), and the Ministers and Secretaries (Amendment) Act, 1983 (No. 40 of 1983), hereby make the following rules:--

1. These rules may be cited as the Harbour Authorities (Allowances to Members) Rules, 1984.

2. The allowance to be paid under paragraph (a) or paragraph (b) of section 9 (7) of the Harbours Act, 1947 , to a member of a harbour authority in respect of absence from his official residence by reason of attendance at a meeting or meetings to which either such paragraph relates shall with effect as on and from the 1st day of September, 1983 not exceed--

( a ) £10.45 in respect of a continuous period of less than seven hours and not less than three hours, and

( b ) £14.45 in respect of a continuous period of not less than seven hours.

3. The form set out in the Schedule hereto is the form to be used in respect of applications under these Rules.

4. The Harbour Authorities (Allowances to Members) Rules, 1982 ( S.I. No. 356 of 1982 ), are hereby revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The effect of these rules is to provide for increases in the allowances which a harbour authority may pay to its members in respect of attendance at meetings of the authority.
