MAJOR ACCIDENT HAZARDS (LOCAL COMPETENT AUTHORITIES) (No. 2) ORDER, 1987.

MAJOR ACCIDENT HAZARDS (LOCAL COMPETENT AUTHORITIES) (No. 2) ORDER, 1987.

The Minister for the Environment in exercise of the powers conferred on him by article 5 of the European Communities (Major Accident Hazards of Certain Industrial Activities) Regulations, 1968 ( S.I. No. 292 of 1986 ) hereby orders as follows:--

1. This Order may be cited as the Major Accident Hazards (Local Competent Authorities) (No. 2) Order, 1987.

2. Each of the public authorities specified in the first column of the Schedule to this Order shall be a Local Competent Authority for the functional area appearing in the second column of the Schedule opposite each entry in the first column for the purposes of the European Communities (Major Accident Hazards of Certain Industrial Activities) Regulations, 1986 ( S.I. No. 292 of 1986 ) hereby orders as follows:--

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The order designates certain local authorities as local competent authorities in respect of the functional areas set out in the Schedule to the order for the purpose of the European Communities (Major Accident Hazards of Certain Industrial Activities) Regulations, 1986 and Article 7 of Council Directive 82/501/EEC of 24th June, 1982* as from the 18th January, 1987.
