HOUSING ACT, 1988 (COMMENCEMENT) (No. 2) ORDER, 1988.

The Minister for the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 31 (9) of the Housing Act, 1988 (No. 28 of 1988), hereby orders as follows--

1. This order may be cited as the Housing Act, 1988 (Commencement) (No. 2) Order, 1988.

2. Sections 2 , 4 , 5 , 7 , 10 , 14 , 15 , 16 and 29 of the Housing Act, 1988 shall come into operation generally on the 1st day of January, 1989.

3. Section 30 (1) of the Housing Act, 1988 and the Schedule to that Act shall come into operation on the 1st day of January, 1989 for the purpose of effecting the repeal of the enactments specified in Column (2) of the Schedule to this order to the extent specified in Column (3) of that Schedule.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This order, with effect from 1st January, 1989:

-- brings sections 2 , 4 , 5 , 7 , 10 , 14 , 15 , 16 and 29 of the Housing Act, 1988 into operation; and

-- gives effect to the repeal of sections 12 and 42 of the Housing Act, 1966 and sections 9 and 10 of the Housing (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1979 .
