IMPORTATION OF CARCASES AND ANIMAL PRODUCTS (PROHIBITION) (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1989.

I, MICHAEL O'KENNEDY, Minister for Agriculture and Food, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 3 and 30 of the Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (No. 6 of 1966) (as adapted by the Agriculture (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1987 ( S.I. No. 97 of 1987 )), hereby order as follows:

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Importation of Carcasses and Animal Products (Prohibition) (Amendment) Order, 1989.

(2) This Order shall come into operation on the 27th day of January, 1989.

(3) The Importation of Carcases and Animal Products (Prohibition) Order, 1966, and this Order may be cited together as the Importation of Carcases and Animal Products (Prohibition) Orders, 1966 and 1989.

2. In this Order--

"the Principal Order" means the Importation of Carcases and Animal Products (Prohibition) Order, 1966 ( S.I. No. 201 of 1966 ).

3. The Principal Order is hereby amended by the deletion of the words "subject to Article 5," in Article 4 thereof.

4. Article 5 of the Principle Order and the First Schedule thereto are hereby revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The Importation of Carcases and Animal Products (Prohibition) Order, 1966 (No. 201 of 1966) provided certain exemptions from an import licensing system. This Order removes those exemptions.
