EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES (TRADE WITH IRAQ AND KUWAIT) REGULATIONS, 1991. |

I, DESMOND O'MALLEY, Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act, 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), and for the purpose of giving full effect to Council Regulation (EEC) No. 542/91(1) of 4 March 1991, hereby make the following Regulations: |

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Trade with Iraq and Kuwait) Regulations, 1991. |
||
(2) These Regulations shall be deemed to have come into operation on the 2nd day of March, 1991. |
||
2. The European Communities (Trade with Iraq and Kuwait) Regulations, 1990 ( S.I. No. 215 of 1990 ), are hereby amended by the insertion in Regulation 2 after "as amended by Council Regulation (EEC) No. 3155/90 of 29 October, 1990" (inserted by Regulation 7 of the European Communities (Trade with Iraq and Kuwait) (No. 2) Regulations, 1990 ( S.I. No. 262 of 1990 )) of ", and Council Regulation (EEC) No. 542/91 of 4 March, 1991.". |

3. The European Communities (Trade with Iraq and Kuwait) (No. 2) Regulations, 1990, are hereby amended-- |
||
( a ) in Regulation 2, by the insertion after "1990" of ", as amended by Council Regulation (EEC) No. 542/91 of 4 March 1991", and |
||
( b ) in Regulation 4, by the deletion in paragraph (1) (a) of "or Kuwait". |
||

EXPLANATORY NOTE. |
||
The purpose of these Regulations is to give full effect to Council Regulation (EEC) No. 542/91 of 4 March, 1991 which lifted the prohibition on trade with Kuwait previously imposed by Council Regulation (EEC) No. 2340/90 of 8 August, 1990 as amended by Council Regulation (EEC) No. 3155/90 of 29 October, 1990. |
