OIL POLLUTION OF THE SEA, (CIVIL LIABILITY AND COMPENSATION) (CONVENTION COUNTRIES) ORDER, 1992.

OIL POLLUTION OF THE SEA, (CIVIL LIABILITY AND COMPENSATION) (CONVENTION COUNTRIES) ORDER, 1992.

I, MICHAEL WOODS, Minister for the Marine, being satisfied that the states specified in Part I of the Schedule to the following Order have accepted the International Convention on Civil Liability for Oil Pollution Damage, 1969, done at Brussels on the 29th day of November, 1969, (hereinafter referred to as "the Liability Convention"), which was ratified by the State on the 19th day of November, 1992, the states specified in Part II of the said Schedule have accepted the Protocol to the Liability Convention, done at London on the 19th day of November, 1976, which was acceded to by the State on the 19th day of November, 1992, and which amends the Liability Convention, the states specified in Part III of the said Schedule have accepted the International Convention for Oil Pollution Damage, 1971, done at Brussels on the 18th day of December, 1971, (hereinafter referred to as "the Fund Convention"), which was ratified by the State on the 19th day of November, 1992, and the states specified in Part IV of the said Schedule have accepted the Protocol to the Fund Convention, done at London on the 19th day of November, 1976, which was acceded to by the State on the 19th day of November, 1992, and which amends the Fund Convention, and being satisfied that the Liability Convention and Fund Convention, as so amended, extend to the territories specified in Part V of the said Schedule, hereby, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 4 of the Oil Pollution of the Sea (Civil Liability and Compensation) Act, 1988 (No. 11 of 1988 ), order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Oil Pollution of the Sea (Civil Liability and Compensation) (Convention Countries) Order, 1992, and shall come into operation on the 11th day of December, 1992.

2. It is hereby declared that the states specified in Part I of the Schedule to this Order have accepted the Liability Convention.

3. It is hereby declared that the states specified in Part II of the Schedule to this Order have accepted the Protocol to the Liability Convention.

4. It is hereby declared that the states specified in Part III of the Schedule to this Order have accepted the Fund Convention.

5. It is hereby declared that the states specified in Part IV of the Schedule to this Order have accepted the Protocol to the Fund Convention.

6. It is hereby declared that the Liability Convention and the Fund Convention, as amended by the Protocols referred to in Articles 3 and 5 of this Order respectively, extend to the territories specified in Part V of the Schedule to this Order.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order, made under section 4 of the Oil Pollution of the Sea (Civil Liability and Compensation) Act, 1988 , declares the countries which have accepted the Liability Convention or the Fund Convention or the Protocols thereto and the territories to which the said Conventions and Protocols extend.
