S.I. No. 48/1994:

ROAD TRAFFIC (SPEED LIMITS) (COUNTY BOROUGH OF DUBLIN AND COUNTY OF DUBLIN) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1994.

ROAD TRAFFIC (SPEED LIMITS) (COUNTY BOROUGH OF DUBLIN AND COUNTY OF DUBLIN) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1994.

The Minister for the Environment in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 5 and 45 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 (No. 24 of 1961) and section 46 of the said Act [as amended by section 25 of the Road Traffic Act 1968 , (No. 25 of 1968)], hereby makes the following Regulations:--

1. (i) These Regulations may be cited as the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County Borough of Dublin and County of Dublin) (Amendment) Regulations, 1994.

(ii) The Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County Borough of Dublin and County of Dublin) Regulations, 1989 to 1992 and these Regulations shall be construed together and may be cited collectively as the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County Borough of Dublin and County of Dublin) Regulations, 1989 to 1994.

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 25th day of March 1994.

3. In these Regulations:--

"the Principal Regulations" means the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County Borough of Dublin and County of Dublin) Regulations, 1989 ( S.I. No. 206 of 1989 ).

"the Regulations of 1991" means the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County Borough of Dublin and County of Dublin) (Amendment) Regulations, 1991 ( S.I. No. 140 of 1991 ).

4. The Principal Regulations are hereby amended by:

( a ) the deletion in the First Schedule of reference 2 (n).

( b ) The addition to reference 2 of the First Schedule as reference (y) of the following--

"(y) The Navan Road (National Road N3) between a point 145 metres north west of its junction with Ashtown Grove and the County Borough boundary."

( c ) the deletion in the Third Schedule of sub-paragraph (iii) of reference 6 (a).

( d ) the deletion in the Third Schedule of sub-paragraph (i) of reference 6 (o) (as inserted by the Regulations of 1991) and the substitution therefor of

"(i) The Chapelizod By-Pass for a distance of 100 metres west of its junction with the Con Colbert Road."

( e ) the addition to the Third Schedule after sub-paragraph (ii) reference 6 (o) (as inserted by the Regulations of 1991) of the following:--

"(iii) The Navan Road (National Road N3) between a point 145 metres north west of its junction with Ashtown Grove and the County Borough boundary."

( f ) the deletion from the Fourth Schedule of reference 2 and the substitution therefor of

"2. The following roads in the County Borough of Dublin:--

( a ) The James Larkin Road between a point 183 metres north east of its junction with Watermill Road and a point 92 metres south west of its junction with the Howth Road.

( b ) The Chapelizod By-Pass between the County Borough boundary and a point 100 metres west of its junction with the Con Colbert Road."

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations amend the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County Borough of Dublin and County of Dublin) Regulations, 1989 to 1992 by altering the speed limits previously prescribed in relation to a section of the Chapelizod By-Pass, Ailesbury Road and the Navan Road.

Ambulances, fire brigade vehicles and Garda Siochana vehicles while being used in the course of duty are exempt from the speed limit.
