ROAD TRANSPORT ACTS (FEES) REGULATIONS, 1994. |

I, BRIAN COWEN, Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 6 , 7 and 27 of the Road Transport Act, 1933 (No. 8 of 1933), section 10 of the Road Transport Act, 1986 (No. 16 of 1986), and the Communications (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) (No. 2) Order, ( S.I. No. 92 of 1987 ) (as adapted by the Tourism, Transport and Communications (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1993 ( S.I. No. 17 of 1993 )), with the sanction of the Minister for Finance, hereby make the following Regulations: |

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Road Transport Acts (Fees) Regulations, 1994. |
||
(2) The Road Transport Acts Regulations, 1933 to 1988, and these Regulations may be cited together as the Road Transport Acts Regulations, 1933 to 1994. |
||
(3) These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of June, 1994. |
||
2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to these Regulations. |
||
3. The fee payable to the Minister on application for the grant of a carrier's licence shall be that prescribed in the Schedule hereto. |
||
4. The fee payable for inspection of the Register shall be a fee of £5 per hour or part thereof. |
||
5. The fee payable for a copy of an entry in the Register shall be a fee of £5. |
||
6. Every fee under these Regulations shall be payable either in the form of cash or in the form of a cheque, money order, bank draft or postal order payable to the Department of Transport, Energy and Communications and shall be lodged with the application. |
||
7. Every fee collected under these Regulations shall be paid into the Exchequer. |
||
8. The Road Transport Act, 1933 , Regulations, 1955 ( S.I. No. 69 of 1955 ), and the Road Transport Acts (Fees) Regulations, 1988 ( S.I. No. 193 of 1988 ), are hereby revoked. |

FEES. |
||
National and International Road Freight Carrier's Licences. |
||
1. ( a ) On an application for the grant of a national road freight carrier's licence under section 3 (6) of the Road Transport Act, 1986 , a fee of £55 together with, in respect of each vehicle to be specified in the licence, a fee of £75. |
||
( b ) On an application during the period of validity of a national road freight carrier's licence, in respect of an additional vehicle to be specified in the licence, a fee, in respect of each period of 6 months or less of the unexpired period of the licence, of £13. |
||
2. ( a ) On an application for the grant of an international road freight carrier's licence under section 3 (6) of the Road Transport Act, 1986 , a fee of £55 together with, in respect of each vehicle to be specified in the licence, a fee of £180. |
||
( b ) On an application, during the period of validity of an international road freight carrier's licence, in respect of an additional vehicle to be specified in the licence, a fee, in respect of each period of 6 months or less of the unexpired period of the licence, of £18. |
||

EXPLANATORY NOTE. |
||
The effect of the Instrument is to prescribe fees on application for the grant of national and international road freight carriers' licences under section 3 (6) of the Road Transport Act, 1986 . It also eliminates stamp duty fees for vehicle plates. |
