I, MICHAEL LOWRY, T.D., Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act, 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), and, in particular, for the purpose of giving effect to Council Directive No. 9½96/EEC of 31 May 1991, Commission Directive 94/49/EC of 11 November 1994 and Commission Directive 95/49/EC of 26 September 19951 hereby make the following Regulations. |

1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Transit of Natural Gas) (Amendment) Regulations, 1996. |
||
|
2. In these Regulations "the Regulations of 1991" means the European Communities (Transit of Natural Gas) Regulations, 1991 ( S.I. No. 343 of 1991 ). |
||
|
3. The Regulations of 1991 and these Regulations shall be construed together as one and may be cited together as the European Communities (Transit of Natural Gas) Regulations, 1991 and 1996. |
||
|
4. In the Regulations of 1991 references to the Council Directive shall be construed as references to the Directive as amended from time to time. |
||

EXPLANATORY NOTE. |
||
|
These Regulations give effect to the terms of Commission Directives 94/49/EC of 11 November 1994 and 95/49/EC of 26 September 1995 and any further Directives updating the list of entities covered by Council Directive 9½96/EEC of 31 May 1991 on the transit of natural gas through grids. |
||
