I, MERVYN TAYLOR, Minister for Equality and Law Reform, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 7 (3) of the Registration of Births Act, 1996 (No. 36 of 1996) hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Registration of Births Act, 1996 (Commencement) Order, 1997.

2. The Registration of Births Act, 1996 , shall come into force on the 1st day of October, 1997.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order appoints the 1st day of October, 1997 as the day on which the Registration of Births Act, 1996 , comes into operation.
