The Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs in exercise of the powers conferred on the Minister by section 27 of the Social Welfare Act, 1997 (No. 10 of 1997), hereby orders as follows: |

1. This Order may be cited as the Social Welfare Act, 1997 (Section 26 (1) (a)) (Commencement) Order, 1998. |

2. The 1st day of April, 1998, is hereby appointed as the day on which section 26 (1) (a) of the Social Welfare Act, 1997 (No. 10 of 1997), shall come into operation. |
||

EXPLANATORY NOTE. |
||
|
This Order provides that section 26 (1) (a) of the Social Welfare Act, 1997 will come into effect on 1 April, 1998. |
||
|
Section 26 (1) (a) consolidates the provisions relating to amounts disregarded in the assessment of means for Unemployment Assistance, Pre-Retirement Allowance and Disability Allowance. |
