EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES (COLLECTION OF STATISTICS) REGULATIONS, 1999.

I, BERTIE AHERN, Taoiseach, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act, 1972 ( No. 27 of 1972 ), and for the purpose of giving full effect to Council Regulation (EC) No. 2533/98¹ of 23 November 1998 concerning the collection of statistical information by the European Central Bank, hereby make the following regulations:

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Collection of Statistics) Regulations, 1999.

(2) These Regulations shall come into operation on the 30th day of June, 1999.

2. Section 33 of the Statistics Act, 1993 ( No. 21 of 1993 ), is hereby amended by the insertion in subsection (1) of the following paragraph:

“(aa) for the purposes of Council Regulation (EC) No. 2533/98 of 23 November 1998 concerning the collection of statistical information by the European Central Bank;”.

The European Communities (Collection of Statistics) Regulations, 1999 facilitates the role of the Central Statistics Office in the collection of statistical information for the European Central Bank under Council Regulation (EC) No. 2533/98 of 23 November, 1998.
