FOOT AND MOUTH DISEASE (PROHIBITION OF EXHIBITION AND SALE OF ANIMALS) ORDER, 2001 |

I, JOE WALSH, Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 ( No. 6 of 1966 ) (as adapted by the Agriculture and Food (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1999 ( S.I. No. 307 of 1999 )) hereby, for the prevention of the spreading of foot and mouth disease, order as follows: |

1. This Order may be cited as the Foot and Mouth Disease (Prohibition of Exhibition and Sale of Animals) Order, 2001. |
|||||
2. In this Order “animal” means a member of the bovine, ovine, caprine or porcine species or any other biungulate. |
|||||
3. The exhibition by any person of any animal for show or sale at a livestock mart licensed under section 3 of the Livestock Marts Act, 1967 ( No. 20 of 1967 ) is hereby prohibited. |

The effect of this Order is to prohibit the presentation of bovine, ovine, caprine or porcine animals or other biungulates for exhibition or sale at livestock marts licensed under the Livestock Marts Act, 1967 , in order to prevent the spreading of foot and mouth disease. |
