The Commission for Taxi Regulation, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 34 of the Taxi Regulation Act 2003 (No. 25 of 2003) hereby makes the following regulations: 1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Taxi Regulation Act 2003 (Small Public Service Vehicles) (Fixed Charges Offences) Regulations 2006. |

(2) These Regulations come into operation on 4 April 2006. 2. In these Regulations -�dispatch operator-� means a person engaged in the activity of taking a booking of a small public service vehicle that is owned or driven by another person (other than an employee of the first person) and arranging with that small public service vehicle driver to provide the service booked. 3. On renewal of a licence, a taxi licence, wheelchair accessible taxi licence, hackney licence or limousine licence may be granted only in relation to a vehicle in respect of which no current small public service vehicle licence has already been granted. 4. A contravention of Regulation 2 or of Regulation 28, 29(1) or 29(2) of the Road Traffic (Public Service Vehicles) (Amendment) Regulations 1995 ( section 46 of the Taxi Regulation Act 2003 . 5. The sign displayed on the roof of a taxi or wheelchair accessible taxi shall contain only the word -�TAXI-� or -�TASCAI-�, the licence number and contact details in relation to the taxi, wheelchair accessible taxi or the dispatch operator, as appropriate. |

These Regulations provide that more that one small public service vehicle licence may not run concurrently in respect of one particular vehicle. Contravention is a fixed charge offence under the Taxi Regulation Act 2003 . |

They also provide that failure to display a taxi sign as lawfully required is also a fixed charge offence. |
