WHEREAS section 34(3)(a) of the Public Service Management (Recruitment and Appointment) Act 2004 (No. 33 of 2004) provides for the conferral of additional functions on the Public Appointment Service; |

AND WHEREAS section 34(3)(b) of that Act provides for the making of such provision as considered necessary or expedient in relation to matters ancillary or arising out of the conferral on the Public Appointment Service of additional functions; |

AND WHEREAS, consequent on the conferral of an additional function on the Public Appointment Service, I consider it expedient to provide for a similar function exercisable by other holders of recruitment licences under Part 4 of that Act; |

NOW THEREFORE, I, Brian Cowen, Minister for Finance, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 34(3) of the Public Service Management (Recruitment and Appointment) Act 2004 (No. 33 of 2004), and after consulting with the Commission for Public Service Appointments, hereby order as follows: 1. This order may be cited as the Public Service Management (Recruitment and Appointment) Act 2004 (Additional Function for Licence Holders) Order 2006. 2. The following additional function is conferred on the Public Appointments Service: |

The Public Appointments Service may carry out assessments of established civil servants for the purpose of re-grading to equivalent grades of such class or classes of established civil servants as approved by the Minister. 3. The following function is conferred on office holders: |

An office holder who holds a recruitment licence under Part 4 of the Public Service Management (Recruitment and Appointment) Act 2004 (No. 33 of 2004) may carry out assessments of established civil servants to whom the recruitment licence relates for the purpose of re-grading to equivalent grades of such class or classes of established civil servants as approved by the Minister. |
