WATER SERVICES ACT 2007 (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER 2007

Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

�Iris Oifigi�il� of 4th January, 2008.

I, JOHN GORMLEY, Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the Water Services Act 2007 (No. 30 of 2007) hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Water Services Act 2007 (Commencement) Order 2007.

2. The 31st day of December 2007 is fixed as the day on which sections 1 to 3, 5 to 35, 39 to 48, 50 to 55, 57, 58 except subsection (2), 59 to 62, 68, 70 except subsections (6) and (7), 71 to 76, 91, 93 to 103 and 108 to 116 of the Water Services Act 2007 come into operation.

3. The 31st day of December 2007 is fixed as the day on which section 107 of the Water Services Act 2007 comes into operation, except in so far as it provides in paragraph (a) for the insertion of subsections (2) to (7) of section 58A into the Environmental Protection Agency Act 1992 .

4. The 31st day of December 2007 is fixed as the day on which section 4(1) of, and Schedule 1 to, the Water Services Act 2007 come into operation to the extent specified in the Schedule to this Order.

This Order brings into operation certain general provisions of the Water Services Act 2007 ; also miscellaneous amendments to the Local Government (Water Pollution) Acts 1977 and 1990, the Fisheries (Consolidation) Act 1959 , the Environmental Protection Agency Act 1992 and, for the purposes of synchronisation, certain other enactments relating generally to the provision of water services; as well as the repeal of certain related enactments specified in the Schedule to the Order.
