EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES (REPEAL OF SECTION 26(4) OF THE NATIONAL OIL RESERVES AGENCY ACT 2007) REGULATIONS 2009

Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

"Iris Oifigiúil" of 7th July, 2009.

I, EAMON RYAN, Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972 (No. 27 of 1972) and for the purposes of giving effect to Council Directive 2006/67/EC of 24 July 2006 1 , hereby make the following regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Repeal of Section 26(4) of the National Oil Reserves Agency Act 2007 ) Regulations 2009.

2. Section 26(4) of the National Oil Reserves Agency Act 2007 (No. 7 of 2007) is repealed.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal Interpretation)

These Regulations provide for the repeal of Section 26(4) of the National Oil Reserves Agency Act 2007 to make the Act compatible with Article 3(1) of Council Directive 2006/67/EC of 24 July 2006 imposing an obligation on Member States to maintain minimum stocks of crude oil and/or petroleum products.
