I, JOAN BURTON, Minister for Social Protection, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 1 (3) of the Social Welfare and Pensions Act 2011 (No. 9 of 2011), hereby order as follows: |
||
1. This Order may be cited as the Social Welfare and Pensions Act 2011 (Section 10) (Commencement) Order 2011. |
||
2. The 1st day of October 2011 is appointed as the day on which section 10 of the Social Welfare and Pensions Act 2011 (No. 9 of 2011) comes into operation. |

EXPLANATORY NOTE |
||
(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation.) |
||
This Order, together with the Social Welfare and Pensions Act 2008 (Sections 18(2), 18(3) and 18(4)) (Commencement) Order 2011 and the Social Welfare and Pensions Act 2010 (Section 11(1)) (Commencement) Order 2011, provide for the commencement of a range of amendments to the legislative provisions relating to the operation of the Supplementary Welfare Allowance scheme, which are contained in the Social Welfare Consolidation Act 2005 , in order to facilitate the transfer of responsibility for the administration of that scheme from the Health Service Executive to the Department of Social Protection with effect from 1st October 2011. |
