I, JOAN BURTON, Minister for Social Protection, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 89 (as amended by regulation 3 and Schedule 1 of the Finance (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order 2011 ( S.I. No. 418 of 2011 )) of the Adoption Act 2010 (No. 21 of 2010), following consultation with the Minister for Health and Children, and with the consent of the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform, hereby make the following regulations: |

1. (1) These regulations may be cited as the Adoption Act 2010 (Abridged Certificate) Regulations 2011. |
||
(2) These Regulations come into operation from the date of signature. |
||
2. In these Regulations "Abridged Certificate" means, as respects an entry in the Adopted Children Register, a certificate of the items set out in the Schedule to these Regulations endorsed in the manner set out in the said Schedule. |
||
3. An tArd-Chlaráitheoir shall issue an abridged certificate to any applicant on payment of a fee of €10. |
||
4. In order to allow an tArd-Chlaráitheoir to issue an abridged certificate, the application shall contain as many as possible of the following particulars: |
||
(a) the forename, |
||
(b) the date and country of birth, |
||
(c) the name, address and occupation of the adopter or adopters, |
||
(d) the date of the adoption order. |
||
5. The fact that any of the information specified in Regulation 4 of these Regulations is not furnished shall not be a valid reason for an tArd-Chlaráitheoir to refuse to issue an abridged certificate if he is satisfied that the appropriate entry can be identified. |

The effect of this Order is to allow for the issue of an abridged certificate, containing specified particulars, from a register of adoptions maintained by an tArd-Chlaráitheoir and to allow for a fee to be charged for the issue of such abridged certificates. |
