I, PHIL HOGAN, Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 7 and 39 of the Waste Management Act 1996 , hereby make the following regulations: |

Citation |
||
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Waste Management (Prohibition of Waste Disposal by Burning) (Amendment) Regulations 2013. |
||
Interpretation |
||
2. "Principal Regulations" means the Waste Management (Prohibition of Waste Disposal by Burning) Regulations 2009 (S.I. 286 of 2009). |
||
Amendment of the Principal Regulations |
||
3. The Principal Regulations are amended by substituting for Regulation 6 the following: |
||
" Cessation of the permissible disposal of waste by burning |
||
6. The burning of waste in compliance with Regulation 5(1)(a) and 5(1)(b) shall cease on 1 January 2016.". |

The purpose of these regulations is to extend until 1 January, 2016 an exemption provided for under the Waste Management (Prohibition of Waste Disposal by Burning) Regulations 2009 (S.I. 286 of 2009) which exists to allow farmers, as a last resort, to dispose of wastes generated by agricultural practices. |
