Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

“Iris Oifigiúil” of 11th September, 2015.

I, JOAN BURTON, Minister for Social Protection in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 3 (adapted by the Civil Registration (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order 2007 ( section 27 of the Gender Recognition Act 2015 (No. 25 of 2015)) of the Civil Registration Act 2004 (No. 3 of 2004), hereby make the following Regulations:

Citation.

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Civil Registration (Gender Recognition) (Abridged Certificate) Regulations 2015.

Commencement.

2. These Regulations come into operation on 7 September 2015.

Interpretation.

3. In these Regulations-

“Principal Act” means the Civil Registration Act 2004 (No. 3 of 2004);

“register of gender recognition” has the meaning assigned to it in section 13 of the Principal Act.

“Abridged Certificate” means, as respects an entry in the register of gender recognition where the particulars are entered under Part 2B of the First Schedule of the Principal Act (inserted by section 30 of the Gender Recognition Act 2015 ), a certificate of the items set out in the Schedule to these Regulations endorsed in the manner set out in the said Schedule.

Particulars to be included in certified extract of entry in register of gender recognition

4. The particulars to be included in the certified extract of an entry in the register of gender recognition referred to in section 30C of the Civil Registration Act 2004 shall be any one or combination of the items specified in the Schedule to these Regulations.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation.)

The effect of this Order is to allow for the issue of an abridged certificate, containing specified particulars, from the register of gender recognition maintained by an tArd-Chlaráitheoir where the particulars entered under Part 2B of the First Schedule of the section 30 of the section 84 of the Adoption Act 2010 (No.21 of 2004).
