I, DARRAGH O’BRIEN, Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 102 (1) (as inserted by section 39 (s) of the Local Government (Mayor of Limerick) and Miscellaneous Provisions Act 2024 (No. 7 of 2024)) of the Electoral Act 1997 (No. 25 of 1997), hereby order as follows: | ||
1. This Order may be cited as the Electoral Act 1997 (Section 102) Order 2024. | ||
2. The period referred to in section 102 (2)(a) of the Electoral Act 1997 (No. 25 of 1997) during which election expenses at the Limerick mayoral election to be held in the year 2024 shall be reckoned for the purposes of Part X of the said Act shall commence on the 8th day of April 2024. | ||
3. The period referred to in the said section 102(2)(b) shall end on the 7th day of June 2024. | ||

EXPLANATORY NOTE | ||
(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation). | ||
This Order determines the period for the reckoning of election expenses incurred by or on behalf of a candidate or mayoral election agent at the Limerick mayoral election to be held on 7 June 2024, in accordance with section 102 of the Electoral Act 1997. | ||
Section 103 of the said Act specifies a limit on electoral expenditure which may be incurred by a candidate or mayoral election agent during the period specified in the Order. |
