109. Without prejudice to any other provision of this Order, the functions of the Council shall be (a)to advise the Minister on such matters relating to examinations for pupils receiving secondary education as he may from time to time refer to it or as the Council may think fit; (b)to arrange for the conduct by the Northern Ireland General Certificate of Education Examinations Board of examinations for the Northern Ireland General Certificate of Education and for the award of certificates by that Board; (c)to arrange for the conduct by the Northern Ireland Certificate of Secondary Education Examinations Board of examinations for the Northern Ireland Certificate of Secondary Education and for the award of certificates by that Board; (d)to co-ordinate the arrangements made by the boards referred to in paragraphs (b) and (c) for the conduct of the examinations; and (e)to provide accommodation, equipment and staff to enable those boards to carry out their functions and to arrange for the supply of stationery, examination papers and other materials in connection with the examinations.
