PAWNBROKERS ACT (NORTHERN IRELAND) 1954 - SECT 24



24.(1) A pawnbroker who without reasonable cause refuses or neglects to
deliver a pledge to a person entitled thereto under this Act, shall be guilty
of an offence against this Act.

(2) On a prosecution under this section a court of summary jurisdiction may if
it thinks fit, with or without imposing a penalty, order

(a)the delivery of the pledge to the person entitled thereto;

(b)the payment by that person of the whole or part of the amount of the loan
and profit; or

(c)both such delivery and such payment.

(3) In a prosecution under this section the burden of proof shall lie on the
defendant.

Prohibition of purchasing pledges, taking pledges from children, etc.
