The Department of the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred by Article 4(3) of the Local Government &c. (Northern Ireland) Order 1972[1] and now vested in it[2], and of all other powers enabling it in that behalf, after consultation with such associations or bodies representative of district councils and such district councils as appear to it to be appropriate, hereby makes the following Regulations: -
Citation and commencement
1.
These Regulations may be cited as the General Grant (Specified Bodies) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2001 and shall come into operation on 4th June 2001.
Specified bodies
2.
The following bodies are hereby specified for the purposes of Article 4(3) of the Local Government &c. (Northern Ireland) Order 1972 namely -
(a) National Joint Council for Local Government Services;
(b) Northern Ireland Joint Council for Local Government Services;
(c) Joint Negotiating Committee for Clerks/Chief Executives of Local Authorities in Northern Ireland;
(d) Local Government Training Group;
(e) Local Authorities' Co-ordinating Body on Trading Standards (LACOTS);
(f) Local Government International Bureau.
Revocation
3.
The General Grant (Specified Bodies) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1994[3] are hereby revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Regulations.)
These Regulations revoke and replace the General Grant (Specified Bodies) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1994. The bodies specified for the purposes of Article 4(3) of the Local Government &c. (Northern Ireland) Order 1972, (as added by Article 41 of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Northern Ireland) Order 1985) are amended to take account of the amalgamation of: -
(a) the National Joint Council for Local Authorities' Administrative, Professional Technical and Clerical Services with the National Joint Council for Local Authorities' Services (Manual Workers), which is now known as the National Joint Council for Local Government Services; and
(b) the Northern Ireland Joint Council for Local Authorities' Administrative, Professional Technical and Clerical Services with the Northern Ireland Joint Industrial Council for Local Authorities' Services (Manual Workers), which is now known as the Northern Ireland Joint Council for Local Government Services.
