ROAD TRAFFIC AND VEHICLES

The Road Traffic Offenders (Prescribed Devices) Order (Northern Ireland) 2005

  Made 18th May 2005 
  Coming into operation 30th June 2005 

The Department of the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Article 23(9) of the Road Traffic Offenders (Northern Ireland) Order 1996[1] and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement
     1. This Order may be cited as the Road Traffic Offenders (Prescribed Devices) Order (Northern Ireland) 2005 and shall come into operation on 30th June 2005.

Prescribed device
    
2. The following device is hereby prescribed for the purposes of Article 23 of the Road Traffic Offenders (Northern Ireland) Order 1996, that is to say, a device designed or adapted for recording a measurement of the speed of motor vehicles by -

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)


This Order prescribes a speed detection device for the purposes of Article 23 of the Road Traffic Offenders (Northern Ireland) Order 1996 (speeding offences etc: admissibility of certain evidence). The device prescribed captures and records images of motor vehicles at two positions on the road and calculates the average speed of the vehicles between those positions.
