EDUCATION

The Education (Student Loans) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2006

  Coming into operation 5th August 2006 

The Department for Employment and Learning[1], in exercise of the powers conferred by Article 3(5) of and paragraph 1(1) of Schedule 2 to the Education (Student Loans) (Northern Ireland) Order 1990[2] and now vested in it[3] makes the following Regulations:

Citation, commencement and interpretation
     1. These Regulations may be cited as the Education (Student Loans) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2006 and shall come into operation on 5th August 2006.

     2. In these Regulations "the principal Regulations" means the Education (Student Loans) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1998[4].

Amendment of the principal Regulations
     3. The principal Regulations shall be amended as provided by regulations 4 and 5.

     4. —(1) In regulation 4[5] (Conditions of eligibility) shall be amended as provided by paragraphs (2) and (3).

    (2) in paragraph (1D) for "30th April 2007" there shall be substituted "1st August 2007".

    (3) for paragraph (1G) there shall be substituted—

     5. In regulation 7[6] (Terms of loans), for paragraph (1) there shall be substituted—

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)


These Regulations further amend the Education (Student Loans) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1998 (the "1998 Regulations"). The 1998 Regulations, made under the Education (Student Loans) (Northern Ireland) Order 1990, govern mortgage style repayment loans.

Regulations 4 and 5 correct drafting errors.
