The Department of the Environment, makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by Article 6(6) of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Northern Ireland) Order 2002[1].
In accordance with Article 6(7) of that Order, the Department has consulted such district councils and such other interested bodies or persons as the Department considered appropriate.
Citation and commencement
1.
These Regulations may be cited as the General Grant (Specified Bodies) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2007 and shall come into operation on 12th March 2007.
Specified bodies
2.
The following bodies are hereby specified for the purpose of Article 6(6) of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Northern Ireland) Order 2002 namely—
(a) Employers' Organisation for Local Government;
(b) Northern Ireland Joint Council for Local Government Services;
(c) Joint Negotiating Committee for Clerks/Chief Executives of Local Authorities in Northern Ireland;
(d) Local Government Training Group;
(e) Local Authorities' Co-ordinators of Regulatory Services; and
(f) Local Government International Bureau.
Revocation
3.
The General Grant (Specified Bodies) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2001[2] are hereby revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Regulations)
These Regulations revoke and replace the General Grant (Specified Bodies) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2001. The bodies specified for the purpose of Article 6(6) of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Northern Ireland) Order 2002 are amended to take account of:—
(a) payments previously made to the National Joint Council for Local Government Services, which will now be made to the Employers' Organisation for Local Government; and
(b) the renaming of the Local Authorities' Co-ordinating Body on Trading Standards (LACOTS), which is now known as the Local Authorities Co-ordinators of Regulatory Services.
