The Department of the Environment makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 9(1), 16(2) and 23(2) of the Transport Act (Northern Ireland) 1967[1] and now vested in it[2].
In accordance with those sections the Department of Finance and Personnel[3] approves these Regulations.
Citation and commencement
1.
These Regulations may be cited as the Road Transport Licensing (Fees) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2007 and shall come into operation on the 17th December 2007.
Amendment of the Road Transport Licensing (Fees) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1997
2.
The Road Transport Licensing (Fees) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1997[4] are amended as follows—
(a) in regulation 2 (fees for road service licences) for "£3.25" substitute "£6.50";
(b) in regulation 4 (fees for road freight operators' licences) for "£7.00" substitute "£30.00"; and
(c) in regulation 5 (alteration of road freight vehicle licence fees) for paragraph (1) substitute—
"
(1) The amount of the fee payable for a road freight vehicle licence under section 23(1) of the Act shall be £5.00, instead of £4.00, for each month or part of a month during the currency of the licence.".

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Regulations)
These Regulations amend the Road Transport Licensing (Fees) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1997 by increasing fees as follows—
(a) for a Road Service Licence the fee is increased from £3.25 to £6.50 per month (or part of a month);
(b) for a Road Freight Operator's Licence the fee is increased from £7.00 to £30.00 per complete year; and
(c) for a Road Freight Vehicle Licence the fee is increased from £4.00 to £5.00 per month (or part of a month).
