The Department of the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 129 of the Local Government Act (Northern Ireland) 2014(1), makes the following Order.
1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Local Government (2014 Act) (Commencement No. 2) Order (Northern Ireland) 2014.
(2) In this Order-
"the Act" means the Local Government Act ( Northern Ireland) 2014;
"new council" means a district council constituted under section 1 (district councils) of the Local Government Act (Northern Ireland) 1972(2) as amended by section 3(1) of the Local Government (Boundaries) Act (Northern Ireland) 2008(3); and
"existing council" means a district council constituted under section 1 of the Local Government Act (Northern Ireland) 1972 as in force immediately prior to the making of the Local Government (Boundaries) (2008 Act) (Commencement, Transitional Provision and Savings) Order (Northern Ireland) 2013(4).
(3) In this Order any reference to a numbered section is a reference to a section of the Act.
2. The day appointed for the coming into operation of the provisions of the Act listed in Schedule 1 is 2nd June 2014.
3. The day appointed for the coming into operation of the provisions of the Act listed in Schedule 2 in relation to new councils is 2nd June 2014.

This Order brings into operation provisions of the Local Government Act (Northern Ireland) 2014.
Article 2, together with Schedule 1 lists the provisions of the Local Government Act (Northern Ireland) 2014 that will come into operation on 2nd June 2014, in respect of both existing and new councils.
Article 3, together with Schedule 2, brings provisions of the Local Government Act (Northern Ireland) 2014 into operation on 2nd June 2014 in respect of new councils.

The following provisions of the Local Government Act (Northern Ireland) 2014 have been brought into operation by a Commencement Order made before the date of this Order.
